TRAILS to ALES: Guided Hike + Drinks

By Fairmount Park Conservancy (other events)

14 Dates Through Sep 12, 2024

ABOUT ABOUT

Join Fairmount Park Conservancy for a thirsty Thursday guided hike along the Lemon Hill Rim Trail on September 12 from 5:00–7:00 PM.

John Sigmund, Fairmount Park Conservancy's Director of Partnerships and Sponsorships, will lead participants on a roughly two-mile hike that will touch on the history of the Lemon Hill area as well as the history of brewing and beer gardens in what is now East Fairmount Park. We'll end at Cosmic Cafe's Water Works Cider and Beer Garden. This social hike series is a great way to get out on the trails and meet new people over cold drinks.

Please note: This is a one-way hike. We'll start at Lemon Hill Mansion and will end at the Water Works Cider and Beer Garden. The hike back is short -- roughly a half-mile in length.

About Cosmic Cafe, the Cosmic Foundation, and the Water Works Cider and Beer Garden: The Cosmic Foundation was founded in 2018 by Peg Botto, owner and chef at Cosmic Catering. She has a background in Human Services as a QIDP (Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional) and has carried that experience with her in the food business. Cosmic hires and trains employees who have developmental disabilities. Most staff start out as dishwashers and then are trained in other areas. A percentage of all profits from Cosmic Cafe and the Water Works Cider and Beer Garden go towards the Cosmic Foundation, which helps disabled individuals learn valuable life skills that will help them in their everyday tasks.
