We are offering FREE guided bike rides of Fairmount Park this summer covering a variety of topics and departing from The Oval led by a variety of knowledgable guides. Free. Space is limited! Registration and signed waivers are required. Helmets are required; if you do not bring your helmet we cannot allow you to participate. Please read the event descriptions below before choosing your date and reserving your ticket. Ride includes on-street routes as well as park paths. Please bring your own water and a snack if you might want one. Tours are recommended for urban cyclists with some experience riding on busy streets or in traffic. We will be traveling at a leisurely pace. 

MEETING SPOT: Meet at The Oval’s Fairmount Park Launch (western end adjacent to Warby Parker Bus). This is where the rides will begin and end.

DATES / RIDE DESCRIPTIONS:

Saturday, July 23rd - THE FUTURE OF FAIRMOUNT PARK GUIDED BIKE RIDE: 10 AM - 12:30 PM. Approximately 9 miles. Good for moderately experienced bike riders. Join Julie Donofrio, Managing Director of PennPraxis, and Chris Dougherty, Capital Projects Manager of Fairmount Park Conservancy on a bike tour of East and West Fairmount Park. Using the 2014 New Fairmount Park Plan as a guide, Julie and Chris will talk about projects and proposals that are taking shape to offer park visitors more amenities and better access.  Attendees receive a copy of  the new “50 Unique Experiences in Fairmount Park” map.

Saturday, August 13th - WEST FAIRMOUNT PARK PUBLIC ART TOUR: 10 AM - 12:00 PM Approximately 5 miles. Join the Association for Public Art for a 5-mile loop through West Fairmount Park and the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center, highlighting public art included in Museum Without Walls™: AUDIO – the aPA’s interpretive audio program for Philadelphia’s outdoor sculpture.

Saturday, August 20th - EAST FAIRMOUNT PARK PUBLIC ART TOUR: 10 AM - 12:00 PM Approximately 8 miles. Join the Association for Public Art for an 8-mile loop through East Fairmount Park, highlighting public art included in Museum Without Walls™: AUDIO – the aPA’s interpretive audio program for Philadelphia’s outdoor sculpture.
