Celebrating with Song: Honoring Jazz Appreciation Month with the Renaissance Orchestra

By Fairmount Park Conservancy (other events)

ABOUT ABOUT

Join Fairmount Park Conservancy and Renaissance Orchestra on Sunday, April 14 from 2:00-3:00 PM for a musical performance highlighting the "Underdogs of Jazz".

Artists like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Ella Fitzgerald are household names, but how about Dakota Staton, Jimmy Heath, and Jaco Pastorius? These lesser-known, but certainly not less talented artists also deserve recognition for their many contributions to the genre.

The Renaissance Orchestra, led by Leon Jordan Sr, is a special events band based in Philadelphia. For this performance, they will be bringing a seven-piece ensemble.

The event is sponsored by AFM Local 77 (the Philadelphia Musicians’ Union) and the Music Performance Trust Fund.

TICKETS: FREE! Please RSVP.

Also, the mansion has a staircase that is not ADA-accessible.
