Fairmount Park Conservancy Members: $45 includes open bar, food and entertainment. About the Strawberry Mansion Music Pavilion:
Beginning in the 20th century, Fairmount Park became the site of numerous band shells and music amphitheaters. From early informal concert spaces to the Mann Music Center, Fairmount Park has served as a popular setting for musical performances.
The portions of the Strawberry Mansion Music Pavilion that still stand were constructed in 1905 on the site of a simple band platform. Pictures from the era show large crowds attending concerts at Strawberry Mansion. The Park’s elaborate trolley system and the opening of the Strawberry Mansion Bridge in 1897 probably boosted the popularity of many park sites—including the Music Pavilion.
The Fairmount Park Conservancy is a non-profit organization that exists to champion the Fairmount Park system. All guests of GLOW in the Park will receive an annual Membership to the Conservancy (at the $35 level).
