This January, February and March, Fairmount Park Conservancy is offering opportunities to get into the woods and discover some of the hidden gems of our park system with a wonderful hike leader, Brad Maule. Enjoy unique hikes through exciting parts of the park you may have not explored before. While we can't guarantee snow, these hikes will happen no matter what the weather (within reason) - and so we call them our "Snow or Shine" hikes! Please note that these are moderately challenging hikes and we strongly encourage the use of proper hiking shoes, dressing in layers, and packing yourself plenty of water and snacks for the journey!

CANCELLED: Sunday, 1/28: Upper Wissahickon with Brad Maule 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Walk through meadows, climb steep hills, and take in some local history on this 5-mile, three-hour hike in the upper end of the Wissahickon. Meet at the Cedars House (200 W Northwestern Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19128).
Saturday, 2/10: Wissahickon's "Greatest Hits" with Brad Maule 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Head for the Wissahickon and join Brad Maule for a loop hike of the park's greatest hits. We'll descend the Cresheim Valley, stop at Devil's Pool, cross Fingerspan, and come back into civilization through Carpenter's Woods. Meet at Allen Lane train station. Ride the Chestnut Hill West Line there, or you can bike or drive. Parking is available on Cresheim Road, Nippon Street, and Mt Airy Ave near Allen Lane train station. Please do NOT park in the train station, as it is used for the High Point Café inside.
Saturday, 3/3: Confluence Hike with Brad Maule 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
The lowest reach of the Wissahickon is lined with magic as it heads into the Schuylkill. This hike sews together geography, industrial history, mystic monks, Norman Rockwell, and a park that doesn’t exist yet with the same thread. Total length is around 4.5 miles and 2.5 hours; there are some challenging hills, so bundle up, bring water (and a snack), and wear sturdy boots, ready to hit the trail. We’ll meet at 10am at the Fairmount Park parking lot at 4900 Ridge Avenue, next to the Wissahickon Transportation Center. Ride your bike—it’s right where the Schuylkill River and Wissahickon Bike Trails come together. Ride the SEPTA Manayunk/Norristown Line—trains from Center City arrive at Wissahickon station just up the hill. Ride a bus—11 bus lines stop at the Wissahickon Transportation Center next door. Or drive—it’s a parking lot!
